Be amazed and inspired with Art 2 Wear
The 2013 Wallace and Gibbs 'Art 2 Wear'
event, is set to continue its inspirational
role within the creative side of the
Arrowtown Autumn Festival, with around 20
entries received for this year's show.
Being amazed and inspired is just a small part
of this event, which, since its inception back in
2010, has seen some amazing and imaginative
garments created that have been the catalyst
for other designers to enter in the ensuing
The 'Wallace and Gibbs' and the Arrowtown
Autumn Festival 'Art to Wear' event is a
partnership that provides an exciting
opportunity for showcasing creative ideas
developed around four different themes.
Held over two nights at Arrowtown's
Athenaeum Hall, design, music and
choreography combine to bring the evening
and the event alive on the catwalk.
This is the third year that the Wallace and
Gibbs group, which comprises six businesses,
has backed the event, and company owners
Bruce and Delvine said they saw huge
potential with this event when they stepped
on board as the sponsor.
''Three years ago we decided we wanted to be
involved in a Community based undertaking
because we are part of the Community and
we wanted to put something back into the

couldn't have grown our business to this
stage and taken on this level of sponsorship

said. ''Since then it has evolved and really

Judging and final selection of the winner is
based on the quality of construction,
workmanship, the concept, creativity, use of
material and wow factor of the completed

$5000 of cash prizes is awarded for the
competition with $800 to the winner of each
of the four categories, $200 for the runners-
up, and $500 for each of the winners on the
two nights of the show for the 'People's

Pub to Pub challenge
WANTED! Teams for the Arrowtown
Autumn Festival 'Pub to Pub'
This is a fun event on the Festival calendar:
join in the challenge, or watch from the
sidelines: it's guaranteed to be hilarious.
Up for the taking is a trophy which was won
last year by the Ice Hockey team.
The challenge starts near the New Orleans
with the various events, all of which will be
revealed on the day, held along the main
street, finishing at the entry to the 'Pie and
Pint' which will start shortly after the final.
The event is open to teams of four who have
to compete in up to six events and run against
two other teams over several heats before the
final is held
Last year the teams dressed up in various
themes from cow's outfits to Southland Rugby
teams and many more funny ones, which
added to the atmosphere on the day.
Good prizes will be awarded for the many
different activities that will occur during the
event and with an MC promoting the
proceedings this year and a good sound
system in place, following just what will be
going on will be a whole lot better.
Teams for the 'Pub to Pub' challenge need to
meet at 11:30 with a starting time of 12
The honour of judging the challenge is
undertaken by the Buckingham Belles who
are under strict instructions NOT to be
blackmailed or bribed by any contestants

once again destined to be a highlight on the
